The Return Home

A Message from Rev. Maya Landell

Friends,

Lent is almost here. Get your Pancake supper tickets after church this Sunday, or call the office, or just come on February 25. Pancakes at 5:00 pm in Stewart East Hall, followed by Ashes Eve service at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary.

It has been our tradition to gather for Lenten Learning the Wednesdays of Lent, but this year, we are having a chance to pray and discern our way through Lent, making space to listen for God. We will begin this at the Pancake Supper, and then a Congregational Meeting Wednesday March 4 at 7 pm full of updates on the Strategic Plan, the GIST transition, Stewart East Hall kitchen, and staffing. We will have space in the middle of March for personal prayer and, of course, connecting to God and our community through the daily Lenten Devotionals. I will be going live each day on our Facebook page (Islington United) to reflect on Finding God’s Story in our Story.

The Week of Guided prayer will be much needed, as we head into Holy Week with many opportunities to connect to each other and to God. Stay tuned. This week in worship the Cubs and Scouts will be with us at 9:30 am, followed by a baptism at 11:15 am.

Join us as we explore Chapter 19: The Return Home

The Bible Story Chapter 19
As we mark the last week of Black History month, I leave you with this prayer from one of my heroes, Maya Angelou, who has given the world words to articulate joy, pain, faith and hope.

Bless you,
Rev. Maya
