New Here?

What is Islington United Church?

We are a community that doesn’t think the same, vote the same or love the same, but we are trying our best to follow in the way of Jesus – the dark-skinned peacemaker who risked everything for love.

We do this with a spirit of hospitality in the interest of building community with both compassion and hope.

An Affirming Church

Islington United Church is an affirming congregation because God calls us to radical welcome and inclusion and to love one another equally. We celebrate those who identify as a part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We strive for justice in the community and the wider church, and to witness without limit that Islington United Church is a brave space for all.

A Place for You. A Space for You.

Where hospitality is at the foundation of everything we do.

Land Acknowledgement

We recognize that Indigenous peoples have been serving as stewards of this land for thousands of years – long before European settlers came and began claiming it. Indigenous communities continue their care for the land, and we are called to join them, living into the spirit of truth and reconciliation.

“We are hosted on the lands of the Mississaugas of the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Wendat. We also recognise the enduring presence of all First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples.”

We honour the light of Creation at work in their hearts. And we consider how the light of Christ calls us to follow in the way of our dark-skinned peacemaker, journeying together in truth, gentleness and love.
