On Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 7:00 pm, join Nora Sanders “In the Kitchen” as she takes us through one of her favourite recipes: Gingerbread Bars! This seasonal (or year-round, if you like) treat brings together delicious Christmas flavours in a cookie that is great for dunking in tea, or simple eating! We’ll also whip up some quick Chocolate Peppermint Bark while the bars are in the oven.

Gingerbread Bars
2/3 cup vegetable oil
1 cup sugar
1 egg
¼ cup molasses
2 cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp ginger
¼ tsp ground cloves
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt

Chocolate Peppermint Bark
12 ounces white chocolate (ideally not chocolate chips), broken into pieces
12 ounces dark/milk chocolate (ideally not chocolate chips), broken into pieces
2 tsp coconut, vegetable, or canola oil (optional)
1/2 tsp peppermint extract (optional)
1/3-1/2 cups crushed candy canes (I suggest putting candy canes in a ziplock bag on top of a cutting board, and roll or gently hit will a rolling pin)
