We have a special invitation to our congregation for a free Don Banks Music Awards concert on Saturday, April 29, at 7:00 pm, in our church sanctuary. For those of you who are newer to Islington United, you might not know about our Music Awards tradition.

Since 2011, we have been hosting a spring music scholarship event where music students in the area audition to be a finalist in an adjudicated competition concert. Initiated through the vision and support of the late Don Banks, a former Etobicoke school principal and member of Islington United Church, the goal has been to offer performance and scholarship opportunities for local music students. This year’s competition concert will include finalists in all grade levels of voice, piano, flute, violin and cello, and it will end with the announcement of this year’s winners.

We think you will enjoy this lovely concert followed by a reception. Additionally, your presence provides support and encouragement that is very much appreciated by these hardworking students. We hope to see you there!
