Christmas looks and feels different this year. In one way or another, grief and loss have touched us all. The Blue Christmas service allows for ALL the emotions of this season to be honoured. If you aren’t feeling ready to celebrate, this service offers a prayerful time of peace and hope for your tender heart.

The Words of Rev. Maya Landell

If you missed the live service on December 9, you can still be comforted by the spirit of the evening. Light a candle as you reflect on Rev. Maya’s words from the service and let them wash over you.

The United Church of Canada

The United Church of Canada offered its own Blue Christmas Service on December 9, 2020 entitled “Advent’s Lament | Blues de Noël.” A recording is available above.

The Quiet Curve of Evening

Throughout the season, as you light your candle at home, may this piece of music, The Quiet Curve of Evening, performed by Andrew Aitchison and Jason Locke, provide comfort and a reminder that you are not alone.

Blue Christmas Longest Night

Thank you to Rev. Anita Miller who created this Blue Christmas Service – Blue Christmas Longest Night 2020 – following the death of her father just a few weeks ago. It is to be used at home, with youtube links to the music included in the service. May it meet us where we are.
