Around 200 of our community members came out for this event! Together, we collected Easter Eggs, drew our own eggs, and got to meet the baby chicks we have been raising. We had tons of volunteers come out to make the event a success! We welcomed lots of new faces, Families from GIST, who were eager to meet the chicks their children had been helping care for in class, and families from our church.

Easter celebrations often happen more inside the church than during the Christmas season but this year, we wanted to reach out and share this celebration with our wider community. Our first Easter Eggstravaganza was created as a way to invite our neighbours to celebrate with us. And they were as excited as we were!

We were blessed with one of our first warm days of spring. It was a beautiful day to be outside. Funny how it always seems to rain on Good Friday, and be a beautiful Sunday day on Easter.

We scattered plastic eggs all over the front lawn and had the children collect them, and trade them in for chocolate. Within the first 10 minutes, there were barely any eggs on the ground! We quickly had to go buy some more so we could continue hiding as more and more community members came! Another half hour later, we realized the chocolate supply was quickly depleting! We rushed out to get some more chocolate too! We never imagined the turn out we would have for this event!

We are so grateful for the support of this community to put on such a great event. Those who donated chocolate, gave their time, and everyone who told a friend or family member about this event and came out to join us! It’s clear our neighbourhood is looking for connection and we are glad IUC can be heart of these connections for people.
