Sunday Worship Service - March 26, 2023 at 10:30 am
As we welcome in these early days of spring, we are mindful of the challenge issued by the United Church of Canada to take action on March 24 to 26 to advance the issue of a Guaranteed Livable Income.
At Islington we are responding by reopening the petition issued by the Poverty Advocacy Group last fall, encouraging more people to sign and share the petition that calls for, among other things, a Guaranteed Livable Income for all.
This is on my mind especially now because this Sunday we will encounter the prophet Ezekiel’s vision of a valley of dry bones. He asked the question, “Can these bones live?”
In this story we are reminded that all the bones lived — that God breathed life into the whole valley, not just some and not others. The breath of the Spirit of Life is for everyone, calling the church to care for everyone.
Whatever challenges you are facing in your own life, wherever you find yourself in relation to problems in your local community, however you are feeling about current global issues, may these poetic words help us to answer “yes” as a community of faith to the question, Can these bones live?
Bless you in the seeking,
You may sit anywhere you wish without restrictions. When attending worship during this busy season, we encourage you to wear a mask. As a community of caring, we wear a mask to protect others who may be more vulnerable than ourselves.
Consider keeping a mask handy when you engage in conversation with someone else. If you’re feeling unwell, we encourage you to please care for yourself at home and join us online.
If you want to wear a mask and forgot to bring yours, we will have masks available at the entrances to the Sanctuary.
If you choose not to or unable to attend in person, we are very happy to have you join us online. Simply click on the white arrow below at 10:30 am on Sunday morning, or anytime after.
