A Message from Rev. Maya Landell (October 23, 2020)

Dear Islington United Community,

It has been a week of construction at Islington United Church: the German International School of Toronto (GIST) is on their fall break providing an opportunity for several building projects to move ahead. The Run for Refugees surpassed their $10,000 goal and raised over $15,000. Amazing! The pastoral care team met last Friday, and volunteers and staff are making every effort to care for those in need and to keep our community connected. A huge thank you to the knitters, the prayer shawl deliverers, the card writers, the hospitality team and the Stephen Ministers for their ongoing pastoral support of our community.

Our Voluntary Associate Ministers (VAMs) continue to reach out to people on the phone regularly; please be in touch with the office if you would like a phone call (office@islingtonunited.org). As we continue to navigate through these times, I welcome you to contact me directly with your suggestions of ways we can reach out as a community and keep making a difference (maya@islingtonunited.org).

We are the church. We are here for each other. When we misstep, we try another way. We keep making the road by walking.

May God’s unconditional love and Christ’s peace always prevail,
Rev. Maya
