Hello friends,

Last week we kicked off our Summer Series: Empowered by the Spirit – Exploring our Spiritual Gifts.

I’m grateful for the inspiration of Patricia D. Brown, author of Spirit Gifts: One Spirit, Many Gifts.

Here are three important biblical foundations:

  • God gives gifts to everyone – Read 1 Corinthians 12:4-7
  • God distributes the gifts according to God’s grace – Ephesians 4:11-12
  • God promises the Holy Spirit will be our comforter guide – John 14:25-27a.

I can’t think of a better time than this season to explore our gifts; recognizing each one of us has been given gifts. You have particular gifts as a unique child of God. Using your spiritual gifts brings you joy!

In their discipleship program, The United Methodist Church uses this online spiritual gifts inventory. Take a prayerful moment and see what the quiz reveals for you.

It is my deepest prayer that this summer our community will have rest and time for reflection on what, how and why we use our gifts for the glory of God and the mending of the world, empowered by the Spirit.
